The SprayShield™ adhesion barrier system is intended for use in patients undergoing laparotomy or laparoscopic abdominopelvic surgery as an adjunct to good surgical technique intended to reduce the incidence, severity, and extent of post-surgical adhesion formation.1 The product was designed to offer gynaecologic and general surgeons an effective means of protecting tissue from adhesion formations through an easily prepared, 100% synthetic polyethylene glycol (PEG) hydrogel technology that provides excellent tissue adherence.2 The SprayShield™ system is a site-specific spray that polymerizes within seconds.
