More About the Technology Behind the SprayShield™ Adhesion Barrier System
Through advanced hydrogel technology, SprayShield™ sealant rapidly polymerizes and adheres to the tissue surface. Its blue colorant allows for optimal visualization of gel coverage and thickness. The SprayShield™ system effectively reduces the number of adhesions and the areas of adhesion formation, and is easily prepared in less than 2 minutes.

Proprietary Hydrogel Technology
The SprayShield™ adhesion barrier system is a synthetic, nontoxic, and biocompatible polyethylene glycol (PEG) molecule. The water-soluble PEG with reactive linkages is mixed with trilysine (a small molecule amine with reactive end groups). The combination cross-links almost instantaneously to form an absorbable hydrogel, and creates a three-dimensional hydrogel structure that gradually hydrolyzes and clears the body through the kidneys in five to seven days. The SprayShield™ adhesion barrier system polymerizes and adheres to the tissue within seconds, enabling complex site application even in laparoscopic procedures.
