About the DuraSeal Xact™ Adhesion
Barrier and Sealant System
The DuraSeal Xact™ adhesion barrier and sealant system is the first dual-action spine adhesion barrier and dural sealant. It features an innovative synthetic polyethylene glycol (PEG) hydrogel sealant with a low swell formulation that mitigates concern of expansion in confined spaces.
As a sealant, it provides an intraoperative watertight seal to prevent the leakage of cerebrospinal fluid in incidental or intentional dural incisions; as an adhesion barrier, it acts as an inert tissue barrier for the inhibition of peridural scar formation.
When sprayed on the dura, the sealant creates an effective, watertight seal and stays in place for 9 to 12 weeks.1
